On the Record

Dated claims.
Checked in public.

When an industry event confirms — or breaks — something this site already had in writing, it gets an entry: what happened, the receipts with their original dates, the verdict, the misses, and the new calls that go on the record for next time. A scorecard that only counts wins is marketing.

Entry № 1 Snowflake × Meta

The Loop Closed Inside the Wall

Snowflake shipped a governed agentic loop between the warehouse and Meta — Conversions API out, campaign context back, an agent that prepares and a human who approves.

Verdict: The thesis confirmed — bounded autonomy on governed data, human gate — but shipped inside one walled garden: identity-only, org-side governance, no holdouts, no standard.

  • "Expect to engineer the seam yourself; nobody sells it clean" lasted eight days — Snowflake now sells that seam, and disintermediates the standalone reverse-ETL vehicle the essay treated as durable.
  • The suite-versus-pipe dichotomy failed to price the third option: the warehouse vendor itself becoming the suite.

An event earns an entry when the record actually speaks to it — receipts are links to essays with their original publication dates, each one logged in the site's public change feed. Positions refined, reversed or retracted between entries are dated there too, and traced in Evolution of Thinking. The territory these calls live in is mapped in Living Maps.
